What are some budget or very cheap ways to do your home up? Thanks?

Not painting or anything like that as we rent our home. I'm in my 50's my partner he is in his early 40's. I'm not a big fan of floral bedspreads/doona. Or to much stripes. Maybe something homey, comfortable feel, happy, welcoming or even a cottage feel. It is 3 bedrooms, kithchen/dining, open loungeroom. Thank you for your time.

What are some budget or very cheap ways to do your home up? Thanks?
I move around a lot for work, so I've rented quite a bit and picked up lots of tips and ideas along the way.

First, don't assume that just because you can't paint you can't decorate your walls in color. I have put fabric--yes, fabric--on walls with plain old laundry starch and it is as beautiful as paint. Just pick a fabric you want, make sure you buy enough of it, soak the fabric in the starch, squeeze out the excess starch, apply it to the walls as you would wallpaper and voila, instant color.

Also, don't be afraid to hang lots of pictures on the walls. Hercules Hooks--which you can get at a hardware or chain store for about 10 bucks--really do work and they only make a small, pin-sized hole in the wall.

Plants always make a home more inviting also. Put some in every room of the house if you can, even if it's only one per room. Area rugs are also inexpensive now (with 5X8's running only 20 bucks or so at Wal-Mart) and make a room so much warmer.

The most important thing though, is to take what you love and incorporate it into your space. Have a great knickknack collection? Purchase inexpensive shelving and show them off. You may not be able to paint your kitchen cabinets, but you can display colorful plates and glassware on top of them and warm them up.

Hope this helped!
Reply:Curtains can be cheap - especially if you can sew. Pillows, slip covers, and area rugs are decent also. I saw once on a tv show someone taking multiple sheets to cover a chair - it looked nice.

Do you have bookcases? They can go in small spaces and can be found relatively cheap. Bookcases can look great when you mix books %26amp; decoration. Shelves can be cheap - might check your lease about that. Pictures are a great idea - some of those command hooks won't put holes in the wall but can hold pictures. If you don't have any, go someplace like hobby lobby and look at prints that suit your personality. Sometimes you can get them half price.

Even kitchen accessories can look good. If you like a color, you can buy things (like measuring cups) that are the same color %26amp; display them. I saw a picture of a lady's kitchen - she had all red accessories in a white rental. It looked great.

Shower curtains can liven up the bathroom. If you have doors, they sell clings for them. Colorful towels and rugs can help there too.
Reply:Awesome advice Tee C!! You could also begin to look around at some websites like this one: http://www.newyorkgeneralcontractor.com/ some really nice ideas! Goodluck :)

Where can i get advice about keeping my plant alive?

I got a plant in a floral arangement, it looked just like a branch, and i put it in water and it began to grow! I have no idea what it is, or how to keep it alive! I think it's starting to die! I need help!

Where can i get my plant identified, and get some advice about how to keep it alive?

Thanks!

Where can i get advice about keeping my plant alive?
well, if you know where you got it, go back there and ask them for help.

or you can go to a local greenery or plant store, ask them to identify it, and ask for any tips.

or you can try your luck on the internet, look up pics of various plants it could be to first identify it, and then look up how to keep it alive once you have identified it

good luck!

i know how tricky plants can be, i once got an orchid and it seemed to be dying, but i didnt know what kind it was, so i went online, identified it, and saved it
Reply:Do web search that offers information of plants and also has pictures of plants. You also might take it to a nursery and find someone knowledgeable on plants. Wrap the plant in a wet paper towel when you take it to a nursery.
Reply:You can take it to Home depot or OSH to get it identified.
Reply:If you could get Martha Stewart's telephone number, she could tell you what to do!

How can I find out the pattern name of my croscill comforter?

I bought a croscill comforter at a thrift store and would like to purchase matching pieces, but I don't know the name of the pattern. It has a floral center with with a purple stripe around the edges, then a wider kind of spuce green stripe with small purple specks. I need to know the name of the pattern so I can look for matching pieces.

Check out this link. Maybe you'll find your pattern.

What are some ideas for decorating a girls nursery?

We want to stay away from the typical pink floral room. We also don't like primary colors. We want somehitng bold and unique!

What are some ideas for decorating a girls nursery?
Try some unique color combinations and have your baby bedding set custom made. Chances are if you use your cribset as your inspiration piece, you will be trapped into using a traditional color scheme and nursery theme.

One of the cute themes I have seen recently combined several looks that worked well together. The colors were not pastel girly pink but a bold melon pink, contrasting black and whites. The theme was Parisian with polka dots, poodles, and there were some ribbons and bows. So much more interesting than a focus on any one design. If you are set against pink of any shade, green, purple or even bright orange are excellent choices.
Reply:How about Hot pink and Black.
Reply:We did our daughter's nursery in Classic Pooh. All the decor came from Target, and it looks really nice, very peaceful to be in there. The colors are mostly neutral, you can't go wrong with that.
Reply:What you are looking for is at Bombay kids it has everything from fru-fru to elegant nursery items. I am not sure if they are in the US but Canada has stores everywhere.
Reply:I like light yellow walls (very light) , wood furniture, brown teddy bears.

Also remember, this is going to be your child's room. The place where she can play, build castles and just be herself so stay away from things that can break, otherwise you have this textbook perfect room but your child cannot play in her own room.
Reply:Why not do a big dollhouse like have big furniture and stuffed animals
Reply:I love sunshine yellow and purple. I also love sage. I think that JcPenneys has all kinds of non traditional things. I know that my friend just had a little boy and instead of the traditional blue she done orange and got Tennessee Volunteer stuff. She found everything she needed.
Reply:A another great theme is painting carousel horses....you can add a few butterflies flying around them. You can add a windup carousel music box to play tunes and entertain your child. A fantastic idea is to purchase a round crib. What's so fabulous about it is that you can gain access to your baby all the way around the crib and not have to worry about banging into corners. This theme can be adapted in a fantasy park....with castles...whatever...just let your imagination run wild. :)

I know how you feel. We're having a boy and i hate baby blue and fire trucks. We're doing red, but i have to make it myself unless i was cherry red, which is tooooo bright.

That ebay store has a TON of awesome bedding.
Reply:I did my oldest daughters stuff in Noah's Ark. For my second daughter I did Precious Moments, and for my youngest daughter I did just purple w/ butterflies. One time at Wal-mart I found a whole line of Raggedy Ann %26amp; Andy that was sooo cute. I wanted to do it for one of my kids but it wasn't there any more when I got preggers again. Another suggestion that imo is really cute is the Classic Pooh, they have it at Target. Good luck %26amp; Congrats.
Reply:how about a butterfly gallery. you know different types of butterfly pics or paints on the wall. lots of colors. butterfly mobile. it would be very pretty.
Reply:I know, i Think is so clichè to do it pink. I'mdoing a baby animal safari theme I saw (and bought) from target (you can find it in amazon too) get to target.com, in bedding you'll find a nursery section, grat options and really cute, I already got what I ordered and theyare very good quality, better than I expected. They have sea animals, safari animals, noah's ark, and lots more.
Reply:For my twin girls, I painted their room a sage green on top, white chair rail then cream on the bottom of my walls. I did it this way because if you decide to introduce pink into the room, it will go with either the sage green or cream paint colors.

Then, I used the bumble bee and pooh bear themes for their cribs. I found the bumble bee crib accessories on the JC Penny website and also at Babies R Us and the Pooh bear crib accessories at Tar'get.

Hope this has helped you.. :-)
Reply:my 10 month olds room is carebears
Reply:What about a lavender room with a castle, unicorns, ponies - all the whimsical things of a princess castle in a magical land.

It would lend itself well to being a nursery theme, but would also be appropriate for a young girl. As she gets older, you could add things like a canopy for her bed, and the like.

Just a thought.

Have a wonderous time with your baby girl!!
Reply:i had such a time with this for my daughter who is now 3 . I started looking in home magazines for things i liked then i scaled them down to fit a little girl . we ended up with a French country style bedroom the walls are a sage green , furniture is in mahogany bedding fresh white with small purple flowers and green stripes i hung peg board shelves alittle above eye level to put her keepsakes and to hang up her prettiest dresses everyone who has ever visited has loved it and it will not be so quickly grown out of . so good luck , start looking i love the martha stewart magazines and hgtv's web site is a fun place to look as well

What color nail polish would you wear with a black and white dress with red accents?

I have a fabulous summer dress, it's an A-line with a bold black and white floral pattern. The dress also has bright red accents in some of the flowers. I'm planning on getting matching bright red strappy sandals and probably a bold set of jewelry that highlights the red. Is red nail polish going overboard on the red? (I think so.) But what color do you do for the mani/pedi - I don't want it to clash with the red shoes.

What color nail polish would you wear with a black and white dress with red accents?
I think I might go with red nail polish myself, but if you honestly think that you'd be going overboard, trust your intuition and opt for a french manicure/pedicure. This will pretty much go with anything and (when done well) is classically elegant.
Reply:Red
Reply:I think red nails would be cute with your dress - As long as you don't add too many red accessories to take away from the dress. But, if you're afraid red might be going overboard, try a french manicure. Black could also be really cute, if you aren't too afraid of that. Also, clear is nice. I like it because it's shiny and cute without over-doing it on color.
Reply:french, but like, do black and the tips red! :)
Reply:Redddddddddd :D
Reply:i would wear red
Reply:Depends on where you're going and how long you nails are. If it's a work function, you're right play it safe and go more neutral. If it's a date or something fun with friends, go ahead and play! Match your red to your shoes and I bet you make new friends. Who could resist talking to you!
Reply:Id say clear is a good way to go if you dont want to add another color in the mix. And getting some white polish to brush the tips will look great (with a little practice) and is cheaper than getting your nails done at a salon.
Reply:red.. but not bright red.. a cherry darker shade of red
Reply:red because its pretty!! and great with black!
Reply:I agree with the answers that a french manicure would be best. Red would be too much, and it would be too matchy-matchy.
Reply:i would say either black oval nails or (a cool twist on the french mani) do a black tipped instead of white!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Red.

I'm wearing "Wet N Wild"

Royal Red.

I think it's fabulous. You should wear it with your dress.
Reply:i would say black-its very cute and kinda in now-just make sure u put it on short nails.Or you can just buff ur nails
Reply:okay three choices:

A classic french tip, a nice nude like opi's bubble bath polish

or a sheer shimmery polish such as opi's fit for queenland polish
Reply:How about "I Am Not Really A Waitress" from OPI? That red is very sexy and classy at the same time!
Reply:I think you should get ur mani/pedi done black and white. It's way~~~ cool and kind of prevents the red in ur outfit to go overboard.
Reply:i would say that red nail polish is a good choice and is not going over board at all.
Reply:french nail!! your dress has very bold colors already and I think doing your nails very bold would be over doing it
Reply:since you have black, red and white in your dress, and a bright red sandal, i would say go for french mani/pedi,trust me you wont go wrong.
Reply:french,

black,

or

shimmery white.

all those look really great as nail colors and would go great w. that outfit and yes red would be too much especially for your toes if you are going 2 be wearing red sandals.

good luck %26amp; hope i helped.

look good always,me
Reply:Try getting the original white tip Mani/Pedi. Or get a Red tip. That way the whole nail is not Red just a little. :)

I'm moving soon and I would like to put some plants in my home. I dont want anything to floral of flowery with colors. I aimed toward green things like elephants ear etc. Any Ideas???

What are some good plants for the home???
Philadendrons are easy to grow and vines all over the place. Spider plants are also easy and grow rapidly.
Reply:Ficus is a nice houseplant and will grow into a small tree, place it near a window.
Reply:Try ferns or peace lilies,,,, easy to maintain........
Reply:marble queen and devils ivy are extremly hardy houseplants.
Reply:Pothos is a great plant not only do the leaves come in a variety of colors like yellows whites and greens it creeps and its easy to grow.Peace Lilly kinda looks like elephant ears but it gets these white pods that bloom from time to time during the year and dont forget the spiderplants they come in solid green to but a very funky plant to try all of these plants grow like weeds they thrive on neglect.Good luck!

How to turn an old blanket into a pretty throw?

I have this old and rather ugly, but warm and large blanket which I would like to turn into a throw. It is synthetic so I can't dye it. Trimming it with nice ribbon won't do as it has rather oldfashioned pattern on it so the trim wouldn't improve it much. I considered putting it into floral duvet cover and stitching it but the blanket itself is too thick to do this on my sewing machine. Any ideas how to beautify it?

How to turn an old blanket into a pretty throw?
I would put it into the duvet cover and then use a large yarn needle to make a couple of stitches to pin the blanket in place inside the duvet (just sew the duvet closed with the blanket inside it). Place maybe 4 stitches in each direction (4x4=16 ties total) and tie off the yarn all on one side of the duvet (on the top of the duvet - use a color to compliment the duvet colors) and leave about 1" of the yarn ends on. The yarn looks like a decorative "tied" quilt and the ties hold the blanket to the same orientation as the duvet without having to put in all on the machine together.

OR you can use some of the newer iron on fabric-to-fabric adhesives and cut decorative patterns from a nicer fabric in brighter colors and iron them onto parts ot the old blanket to spice it up a little.
Reply:My grand-mother kept her family going during the 2nd world war by utilising the cloth of old suits etc., and she often turned old blankets into throws.

She'd use a compatible colour cloth EG. a cotton sheet that had gone threadbare down the middle, cutting this into wide strips to make a border round the edges - then she'd add some small squares of a printed cloth and perhaps some embroidered flowers. A thin strip of satin / ribbon would also create a nice contrast.

You could also line the blanket with an old cotton sheet and add a thin layer of polyester wadding, using zig-zag quilting stitching . (A cotton lining will help to stop the throw slipping).

What is the best way to clean dried and silk flowers?

Is there a good product or a quick way to clean dried and silk floral arrangements? I have been cleaning out my mothers house, and there are about a million of these things and I have no idea how to get the dust off. I don't want to have to take them all apart to do it. If I had my way, I would throw them all out, however, she wants to keep them. Any ideas?

What is the best way to clean dried and silk flowers?
just spray them with aerosol lysol...any areosol product will clean them...also if they are silk you can wash them like dishes in a dishwasher if you have one... just be gentle...I wash mine in my dishwasher on gentle cycle... and i only have a half million through my diswasher on gentle....it's a breeze and they hold up.....trust it i have done it 3 times...lol 3 times a thousand.....
Reply:Dry methods involve use of a bag with one of a host of dry items. Put silk products inside of a paper bag, and add a couple of cups of uncooked rice before shaking it briskly. This is even effective with dried arrangements or wreaths.

Or, try a few tablespoons of salt inside of a plastic bag—shake, and then make sure all residue is gone. Also effective with dried flowers.

Cornmeal is another dry method for cleaning. Use plenty of shaking, including upside down, to make sure all traces are gone.
Reply:I clean my silk and dried flower bouquet by putting it into a brown paper bag with 1/2-1 cup table salt. Roll the bag down but allow the item room to move then shake shake shake for abut a minute. Open the bag and pull the item out, gently shaking it as you are pulling it out to remove the remaining salt. This gently removes the dust and debris and leaves it in the bag w/ the salt. Reuse the salt several times for this purpose.
Reply:put some common table salt, a 1/4 c should do, in a paper bag, add the flowers a few at a time, close the top and shake. The salt will remove the dust easily. Shake the salt out of the flowers back into the bag and repeat.
Reply:My mom always filled the sink with hot water and added 3 cap fulls of ammonia to the water then wished them around then hung them upside down out side on the clothes line.
Reply:You can try a blow dryer. I have heard of products available to spray on such arrangements. Try Hobby Lobby/Michael's/ JoAnn's...any craft store. They may be able to help you.
Reply:If they're just dusty, use one of those spray air cans that you would use to clean your computer/electronics...or lightly vacuum them with a soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner.
Reply:I use my hair dryer on the cool setting to blow the dust of my dried arrangement.
Reply:i would suggest a capful of baby shampoo and then soak them to wash them and hang to dry.

Is there any way to remove hardened acrylic water from sterling silver chain?

I have 20 feet of sterling silver chain that I accidentally exposed to acrylic water while making a floral arrangement. I didn't realize it at the time, and now the chain is all crimped and curled. Is there anything I can soak this silver chain in to get rid of the acrylic water? 20 feet of sterling silver snake chain is not cheap these days, and really hate the thought of throwing that money away!

Is there any way to remove hardened acrylic water from sterling silver chain?
Beauticians use acetone (nail varnish remover) to remove acrylic nails by soaking the nails in it.

Could be worth a try with your chain.
Reply:after doing a quick google, i've heard that something called "bar keepers friend" may help, however, this was for a vase and not a chain, and i don't really know a great deal on the topic, just trying to help.
Reply:You could try warm vinegar...
Reply:place it in vinger or take it to a jewlery

What are some budget or very cheap ways to do your home up? Thanks?
Imagination goes along way in making up the budgetary short falls . . . . .
Reply:maybe update the curtains. with a d.i.y. sewn curtain and a simple curtain rod..

try rearranging furniture to make it different, see if you find it more comfortable...

lighting affects a lot in a home..so maybe some table lamps or floor lamps for dimmer or brighter lighting

if you're into photography, take some pictures and make them into posters or standard photo sizes (costco prints out pretty cheap) and have them framed (make sure that you find a frame first so that you don't have to custom frame) you could even do a collection of photos in smaller frames of family or flowers...basically one specific area

maybe buy a cheap vase, something clean, simple, clear and add marbles (or one particular color) and water and fresh flowers (or even fake ones, just don't do be obvious with it)..you could even get some small plants to put in your home, especially if you've got lots of sunlight that comes in (adds greenery and oxygen)...

i'm not sure what else since I don't know what your actual home looks like..

hope this helps! : )
Reply:Paint is not a waste even if your renting

How long are you staying there?

Paint cleans and refreshes, and is cheaper than refurnishing
Reply:Spruce up all your linen. Go out to shops that sell homewares (or look online) for duvet covers, pillow cases, sheets, couch covers, etc. These will make a big difference to the way your room looks.

A new dining suite can do wonders too, depends on your budget though. Sometimes a new table cloth and some nice table decorations and centrepieces can make a big difference.

Stick up some artwork and photos on your wall. Instead of paying heaps for prints in frames, buy some cheap frames, paint them yourself, and then cut out pictures from art books, or online and stick them in there. I have this gorgeous frame with a pretty print in it, which i made for about $5 using the above method, when I saw one similar in a store for about $90!

The link is to a site that sells all sorts of linens and couch covers.

Good luck!
Reply:paint some wood panels (example green) and lean them between the wall and the sofa. nail contrasting grilles (example yellow) to the panels and you wont have wall damage

go to http://www.nextag.com/wall-grille/search... to look @wall grilles. they're usually quite large. for the wood panels you'll have to visit a lumber yard
Reply:Painting is not always an option when you rent. When I need to update on a budget this is what I do. Empty the room completely. Only put back what you need. Ex. bed, dressers, couches, you know the big items. Preferrably an arrangement you've never used before. Then the fun part. Start with curtains you like. Depending on your budget, I LOVE Goodwill Stores. They not only have wonderful used things but also a lot of new. Pick colors from your new curtains to complete your new look with pillows, lamps--new lighting or even a different watt or kind of bulb will add a new feel, and of course plants or collections of whatever you collect. Don't be afraid to try new things. It can always be undone. Don't think traditional, ex. fish in a bathroom, try fish in a kitchen. You get the idea. Try two or three different colors that you've never used before or you think may not match, you'll be surprised at the new color combo impact. But most of all, HAVE FUN!!

Where can I get decorative chocolate wrap for contemporary pastries?

I recently bought a miniature cheesecake surrounded by a very thin chocolate shell that had been printed with a pink floral pattern. I'd like to use them in on my own pastries. Any idea where to buy them? I'm guessing they come on a cellphane sheet, you press them to the outside of the cheesecake, and then peel the cellophane off.

Where can I get decorative chocolate wrap for contemporary pastries?
Sound like you are describing "transfer sheets". You can but them from a few places including JBPrince.com - chocolat-chocolat.com. Now the only problem is that the way they work is - you temper some chocolate and spread a thin layer of chocolate on the transfer sheet. as the chocolate starts to set you then can wrap it around the item you want to cover. After the chocolate has set you can peel the backing off the transfer sheet and the design will be on the chocolate. The design is made from cocoa butter. The problem is the chocolate needs to be tempered properly or the design will not stick to the chocolate. If you have any problems please email me.

do i have to go to the office each week or day and what for. can i do this independently?..i currently own my own floral shop and am used to being somewhat independent.

I am studying to get my real estate license and was wandering can i work entirely from home?
I have a friend who is an independent broker and has an office in his home. But, to get initial experience, I would think you would want to work for an existing company for some period of time. They will likely want you in the office. But, you might find one who is willing to work with you.

Where can you order flowers & plants like the greenhouses have?

not like boquets of flowers but single plants and flowers like you would find at the shopko floral shop or walmart. some greenhouses must have to order them....but where?

Where can you order flowers %26amp; plants like the greenhouses have?
I order plants from parkseed.com gurneys.com is also a good one and they have some buy one get one free deals. I got like 8 plants for only 25 dollars. there are tons of nursery catalogs that you can order online wasidegardens.com bluestoneperennials.com and lots of others. good luck i hope you find some plants you love!
Reply:Not really. What they do is start them from seed. They start them probably in Jan. Then by spring they have full grown plants to sell...You can do that as well..I do all my vegetable and flower plants in seed trays with fluorescent tubes for light.
Reply:loew or walmart
Reply:you might want to order a flower seed catalog but then agin i dont know any thing about gardening.

What is the best time to find hydrangeas?

What months are they easier to find in floral shops? I would like to use them in a June wedding, but will they be available at that time?

What is the best time to find hydrangeas?
June should be fine. They are in the shops now and coming into bloom. I would suggest pre ordering to be sure you get the type you want. The white lace caps and panicle hydrangas are great. If you let the guests take them at the end they may even have a reminder of the wedding growing in their garden!

How can I get "dryer sheet" smell out of old clothes?

I bought a nice pair of black jeans at a flea market, but they totally stink like dryer sheets (heavy, sweet, floral). I can't bleach them. What else can I do? (the smell is irritating my asthma).

How can I get "dryer sheet" smell out of old clothes?
wash them in warm water and put some clorox2 bleach in with the laundry detergent wash them two times and see if that kills that odor
Reply:Wash them again and hang them outside to dry..inside out so they wont fade.
Reply:wash again in tide
Reply:I'm not sure if this works cause I haven't tried it. I work in a hardware/housewares store. And one of my customers says that she works on a pig farm and she uses a scoop of Borax along with her detergent in every load of laundry. She told me that not only does it get the pig stench out but it also cancels out the smell of her detergent. This stuff might be kinda hard to find cause it's a pretty old brand. Try your local Ace store. If they don't carry it, they might be able to order it specially.

PLZ XPLAIN N GIVE details fot the floral formulae of the families%26gt;%26gt;malvaceae%26amp;musaceae?
1) In Malvaceae - G ( 5 - infinity ) means there are five

carpels or infinite carpels i.e. five to many carpels . The

bracket around that figure ( 5- infinity ) means synarpous (

What is syncarpy?

That is your homework and part of study from book).

EPI 3-8 means there is epicalyx of 3 to 8 segments.

Floral formulae have symbols which I cannot depict .
Reply:Sorry.

Not only do I not know the answer, but I can barely read the question.

The floral arrangement I paid to be delivered to my mom, 2000 miles from me, were not sent, what to do????

I went to a local florist in a small town in California to send a mothers day floral arrangement to my mom, who lives in a small town in Ohio. Even though I ordered and paid in cash on Monday they scheduled delivery for the following Saturday, after promising delivery between 8 a.m. and noon at noon they informed me that it might take till six since its a holiday delivery. At around 4 they advised me they would be delivering until 8 pm. My mom is in her 70's and perfers being asleep by 7. I'm so frustrated at this pont my mom has no flowers and the shop in Ohio does not deliver on Motheres Day. Any suggestions??? Oh, by the way this cost about sevanty dollars to expirence. Ideas?????

The floral arrangement I paid to be delivered to my mom, 2000 miles from me, were not sent, what to do????
If they guaranteed delivery, you may have some recourse for a refund...however...in the future , you may find it more benficial , not be mention cheaper to call a florist in Ohio yourself. Do a little research on the web and find one near mom and call them direct, most florists have toll free numbers, then you can find out what they have in stock and if and when they can deliver it:)
Reply:i would sue .. or ask for money back .. BE FORCEFUL!!

Reply:call them back on Tuesday get your money back and make them send her 2 sets for free . just for the mess they maid. they will do it. ( maybe you should throw in a cry here and there) it might work.

Floral Pot?

Unfortunately, I broke a little pot that I had that I liked very much. It was distributed, I believe, by Holland Floral Inc. was called "Pumpkin Cottage w/ Mouse." It was a pumpkin with a little white mouse with a red bow tie looking out the window.

Does anyone know where I could find this? It was old, so I don't know if it is carried anymore.

Floral Pot?
I tried searching online for you without success. I would reccomend calling the company directly and asking them if they have anymore. Sometimes (like the company I work for) have a few left overs somewhere and are more than happy to give them away to someone who really wants it or sell it. They may be able to tell you who is carrying them or if it will be made again, etc. Or better yet they may even tell you who the manufacturer was/is. I'm sure that Holland Floral, Inc. did not manufacture it. so you never know worth a shot. have a you tried Ebay? Good luck.

I'm looking for information on an artist G Gy Szentes, he painted Flemish Floral?

Try entering his name in a site like Absolute Arts or World Wide Art Resource.

They have data bases of current artists and some dead people, too. You might come across a dealer who handles the estate of that artist if they are dead, and that dealer could probably help you. The dealers and galleries will come up on those sites if they have listed that artist name in their websites. Good luck!

Floral Tributes On Roadsides?

In recent years I have noticed, sadly, many floral tributes, teddy bears, and even some wooden crosses, being laid at roadsides where a fatal accident has occured.I for one think it can serve as a warning to other motorist to take more care on the road. I can't recall this happening when I was younger.Do you think this is a modern way of people expressing their grief more openly? I have no problem with anyone doing this.I'm just curious to know what others think when they see flowers at the side of the road.I feel a tinge of sadness when I see flowers, and teddy bears that have been left in memory of a loved one.

Floral Tributes On Roadsides?
On one of the main roads into Portsmouth there is a full size headstone memorial! (3 foot Marble book with inscription)

It is a way of expressing and dealing with sudden loss which is a shock but it can be a bad idea - On a busy 3 lane road a man was trying to cross to get to the shop when he was killed, all because he couldn't be bothered to use the underpass a few yards along the road - so what do the relitives do for several months after? Dodge cars on the SAME road at the SAME spot to lay flowers there??????

Crazy.
Reply:i have done this for 4 of my friends and im only 21 it really does bring tears into my eyes knowing the pain that i went through thinking of the pain that the persons family and friends are going through
Reply:I think it's kind of distracting, but I understand that the grieving want to remember their loved one in the last place they were ever alive. There is this woman who lives about a mile away. Her 9 year old son was hit by a car and killed many years ago. She has a tribute site for him. She has pictures up of him with age progression done on them. Like his graduation picture etc. She also puts up banners and such for the football games as thou her son would be a sports fan. The problem is she really isn't getting on with her life....as painful as that may be. She just can't let him go...I really can't blame her. It's heart breaking.
Reply:I think its a really good and modern idea of remembering soneone who died whereever they died.

We do this at cemetery mostly but in Venezuela they actually put crosses all over the place by the orad and by the sea o show that someone has died there and when you see them the first thing you do is remember and thats a good thing.

Whit stone crosses wont work here because there will be some idiot who will fall over it, pee on it, vandalise it but flowers are okay.
Reply:I agree that they can be a distraction but they also are a way of expressing grief, they are a reminder to the rest of us to take care on the road they do the job I always check my speed when I see them I feel sad for the people that have lost someone. i think twice when driving.
Reply:Of course it is sad but this is not the place for remebrance or tribute.

It causes a distraction to other drivers and maybe it could even cause another fatal accident as drivers rubberneck.
Reply:I think that doing this can be a good warning to other people but all so can be a dangerous thing to do because people try looking while driving and then have a crash as well. I do feel sad when I see them but all so I think did they deserve to die because they were speeding or on the phone.
Reply:Whenever I see them by the roads, I always feel sadness and I start thinking about the family and friends and how they must feel. Then I get thinking it could have happened to me, as was the case in real life. I had an accident on the same road, same side of the road only 1 mile away from a fatal crash. My accident was in December and this other girl (similar age to me) had her fatal accident a month later. My boyfriend used to go to work on that same road every day and he said that every time he saw the floral tribute, he thought of me that this could well have been my floral tribute. Brings it home a bit, doesn't it?

In one particular case, I saw a floral tribue, which spelt out 'Dad'. Now that really made me very, very sad as my dad drives like a lunatic and he had many-many accidents in the past (almost fatal). Everybody should take care when driving, and think about other drivers who also have families and friends.
Reply:I'm from New Mexico and it is quite normal here and has been for 50 years or more. Some are just a little cross, others are very elaborate. Sometimes the family or friends update the memorial frequently. Around here it is not considered a distraction, because it is normal. It also is not necessarily on a roadway, I know of one placed deep in the mountains where a small plane crashed.
Reply:It is a modern exression of grief and it severs as a reminder to motorists to take care there
Reply:I moved from the Midwest to FL and have noticed it seems more prevalent here in the south. I think it serves two purposes but only guessing. One to memorialize their departed and two to remind people to drive safely. I am not sure it helps the aggressive drivers who usually the cause the issues but it certainly reminds me that regardless of what irate individual does to me driving and thinks they have to get their sooner than I what's important.
Reply:Not sure where it started, but I'm sure the yanks have something to do with it, they have tributes for waking up in the morning! I myself find them very distracting and my mind starts wondering if this particular road is hazardous and what should I be looking out for. It is a much more saddening site, when these tributes are left for months on end. If there ARE to be flowers etc., laid, I think they should be taken away after a short period of time.
Reply:I read somewhere that this is becoming policy in some local authority areas and in fact they are either going to put the mangled car or a photo of the scene there as well to educate other drivers....I think the floral tributes are a nice remembrance of a person, much like laying a wreath at sea....but not sure about the rest.

What is a good strong-smelling, hardy flower that I can grow inside to use as natural air freshener?

I'm going green and all-natural! I like strong floral scents and like to keep my house smelling fresh and sweet. I like floral and woody scents. (like pine and juniper and cedar). Im fond of eucalyptus as well. I'd like to know what is a good one to grow indoors that requires little knowledge or care, and smells fantastic all the time! thanks!

Reply:I just read the latest report from CNN which was simultaniuosly brodcasted in the New York Time databank and should be front page news tomorrow. Apparently the Medical Examiners report was released to the family today. It showed that there was no trace of illegal substances in Heath Ledger's body and there was only a small trace of 2 drugs that were found in his room, thus ruling out overdose. The report goes on to state that "it appears Mr Ledger suffered a mild stroke that rendered him unconcious". They are now reporting that it was complications resulting from the stroke that caused Heath Ledger's death. They have not released any details beyond what I have just shared with you, however I am sure it will be well known with in the hour. In today's society where journalism revolves around a jumble of half truths, I think the media has shown alot of class when dealing with this sensitive subject. I have read many reports speculating that "drugs may be a factor" however with each report came a disclaimer stating no evidence could support that theory. I appreciate the respect the media has shown to the family and friends of Heath Ledger and the acknoledgment of his vast accomplishments as an actor.

Are there photo/video/floral/transporati... wedding package deals for Montgomery County/MD (suburban DC)?

I'm currently planning a wedding for Gaithersburg, MD with a reception on Wisconsin Ave. in DC.. I've heard that there are wedding package deals where you can get a photographer/videographer/florist/limo driver for a good deal. Are there sites where I can research these services?

Are there photo/video/floral/transporati... wedding package deals for Montgomery County/MD (suburban DC)?
Those may exist, but honestly you are going to get middling services on all of them, paying more for some, less for others, but never EXACTLY what you want from all. If you have the time to do the research, find vendors that you like in each category. They are, after all, related only by way of the wedding package. Drivers don't arrange flowers, Florists don't shoot and edit video. So someone -- either one of the vendors or an enterprising broker -- is making a mark-up on the package.

I used to live in DC, but I didn't ever use wedding-related services there. The only limo company I know of and like in the area is Admiral Limousine (ask for Cathy when you call for a price).

I would check out Craigslist for videographers and photographers. Look at their portfolios, be very clear what is and is not included, and go with your gut. One big tip on photos: Work with a photographer who is willing to give you a full set of the high-resolution digital files of their work. Photographers that refuse (or charge thousands of dollars for it) are hoping you'll spend thousands of dollars getting prints from them. Instead of paying $10, you could put the photo on Shutterfly and pay $0.99 for an 8x10. It's worth paying the photographer $500-$1000 for these files, but that fee should always be a credit toward eventual purchase of an album.

I wish I knew DC-area wedding photographers or videographers to refer you to. I'm sure there are lots of good ones. Perhaps contact the Association of Bridal Consultants:

http://www.bridalassn.com

and have them refer you to local members.

One final thought: If you are planning on doing a DVD slideshow/photo montage of you and your partner growing up and with family and friends -- something you would typically show at the reception -- I can recommend Big Moment Films:

http://www.bigmomentfilms.com

They can also do a video from your wedding photos. See, you don't even NEED a videographer to have a video. If you forego a video, try to record the ceremony -- a sound technician can help you with this and will be much less expensive than a whole video set-up. Then a company like Big Moment Films can mix audio and music from the ceremony into your photo montage video.

Good luck with the wedding!

ENOUGH of the "floral" "smock" tops - i want a going out top - that isnt floral etc?
Search on Ebay - in the shops that sell new items.

Login to Ebay and in the search type in the word 'top' followed by your size. Then when the search results come up make sure the 'new items only' is ticked on the left hand side and search again.

I found lots of nice clothes this way - it's not always cheap cheap, but it is definitely cheaper than going to high street stores - and you can browse from your front room!

Good luck.

.
Reply:I totally agree that the variety of fashion is limited. Everything does seem to be smocked, floral and over 40 quid.

Try a bandeau top. These are also very much so in fashion. As in for the price. The cost of clothing has seemed to risen. Unfortunately, you will have to seperate with your cash or shop through clearence rails. http://www.warehouse.co.uk/pws/ProductDe...

Find out the natural flora in Korea, then try to find these or simular flowers in the US. The two Koreas might have national flowers or something maybe you could research that.

You could play on the word "florist" and the way it rhymes with "Forest"...eg...(yes I know these are crap but you get the idea)

Nottingham Florist

The Black Florist

Florist Fire

etc....or play with the word "Bloom" as mentioned before...

Bloomers

Blooming Lovely

Bloomtown

etc :o)

My wedding ceremony will be in front of this museum. What kind of archway or other floral design can we do?
Rent a wedding arch from any company that does event rentals. If you are renting chairs for the ceremony they same company will probably have an arch. After that, when your floral scheme has been set your florist should have tons of ideas for how to decorate the arch. A green garland wrapped around the arch should look great with any type of floral accents. Looks like a beautiful place!
Reply:I would take white pvc pipe and follow the doorway design (square instead of an arch). Cover in White organza then wrap a floral garland around the organza.

Second idea same as above but pouf the organza and gather with rubber bands, then attach small bouquets of roses or whatever your flowers will be.
Reply:Hi and congratulations!

Your location is beautiful! I like the arches on this site:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/whitmetwed...

Floral for Turquoise, White and black wedding?

I'm wondering what flowers (colors) would look good for my centerpieces for my turquoise, white and black wedding. I don't want all white flowers... would a hot pink or orange go with it?

Please let me know what you guys think would look good together for my colors.

Floral for Turquoise, White and black wedding?
Pink stargazer lilies would be lovely.

http://www.extension.iastate.edu/newsrel...
Reply:You already have 3 colors and though another color may accent the turquoise, white and black, white and black go with everything so they are more accent colors.

I would not go with any addtional colors... but instead, something totally different from the turquoise black and white. Do something art-sy... like a single orchid plant for the centerpieces... if you can find some realistic looking fake ones, you could tie small pictures of you and the groom to the stems and have the stem of the orchid tell your story in pictures.

Or try something like doing a random mix of flowers (with guidance from the flourist, that is). For example, for your reception centerpieces, each table could have a different type of flower combination or different colors... it can help hold the table numbers etc.

Maids can have white bouquets with a touch of color... like one could have all white with 4 or 5 roses stuck in there. One could have white bouquet with coral flowers stuck into it. That way pepole get the theme that it's just the flowers that are random colors, and not everything is random.

People would get it and it could even make your bouquets less expensive and floral-y creative!

Good luck!

Reply:in my opinion i really dont think hot pink or orange would go very well

you could try a soft, light blue, or very soft light purple

put either of those colors, or even both if you want together with a couple of white flowers and i think that would look very pretty!
Reply:Use bright pink and/or orange colored flowers and a turquoise ribbon. It's a bright blue so the bright colored flowers will be perfect. I love that color! :D
Reply:Coral or pinks would be nice.

Or if you know of a high quality floral design shop (not necessarily Asian focused) that's looking for people, I'd appreciate that too. Thanks.

Floral design- on the color wheel, green is a?
On the color wheel, green is a secondary hue formed from mixing the primary colors of yellow and blue. Hue is simply another word for color.

You may find some information here regarding the use of a color wheel. It has been invaluable for me in art, and I am sure you will benefit using it in floral design as well.

Is the floral pattern (for women's blouses) out of trend?

http://www.billboardfashion.com/product_...

i live in santa cruz, which is the bay area/san francisco. i know that this kind of blouses was in season a while ago, so i'm not sure if it's still trendy.

Is the floral pattern (for women's blouses) out of trend?
Yep, there are still designers doing floral. But it depends on your shape - if you're large on top, it's tricky. If you're going to wear it, team it with clean cut simple pants in a plain colour with little detailing, and very few accessories / simple purse. Jewelry is best if it's simple like some gold bangles - but nothing that will make the outfit look cheap (a risk with these blouses)...
Reply:dudette, anything is in nowadays, wear whatever you feel comfortable in, trends are overated. ( but it's a cute top)
Reply:I don't remember it every being IN style.
Reply:i wouldn't wear it. try solid colours. i love the shirt...only with brown tho.
Reply:Very pretty.
Reply:YES!!!!!!!1 unless its like a baby doll top and theyre are cute flowers but otherwise its a big no no
Reply:Very trendy and cute. I would wear a white or black tank top underneath though! ?

Old Navy Dresses It Up

New TV spot plays up the brand's dressy side for spring.

By GapWeb Daily Staff

Feb. 28, 2007

One of the first things you’ll see when Old Navy’s latest TV commercial debuts Thursday is the Old Navy logo – big, bold and animated. Also prominently featured are dresses, and plenty of them.

The clear message is that Old Navy is the place to go for beautiful summer-weight dresses in a variety of styles and colors.

The spot, “Dresses,” begins a two week-plus run tomorrow night in the U.S. and Canada on such programs as "American Idol," "Grey’s Anatomy" and "Gilmore Girls."

This latest Old Navy TV ad was directed by Arni %26amp; Kinski, who also directed music videos for such bands as Snow Patrol and Placebo, as well as TV spots for Hummer, Coors and Mercedes Benz. Landis Smithers, VP, creative for Old Navy provided creative direction.

And music is a song called “Believers,” by the Australian band Rogue Traders.

Dresses featured in the spot include a long linen halter dress in a floral pattern, and baby doll dresses in a blue check, brown floral, red print and white eyelet.

Take out an ad in your local church bulletins. They ususally don't cost too much money.

Get a table at a bridal fair. It might be a bit expensive but you'll get a lot of exposure. Offer a prize of free flowers or something to get some face time with brides to be.

Also ask the businesses if they have a website they would be happy for you to part advertise on their web page if you refer them to other clients etc.

Local malls and community centres also have noticeboards you can advertise on, also local news papers offer a discount for small local businesses to advertise with them.

I need suggestions or pics for decorating an outdoor wreath or garland using modern red ornaments, no floral..

I am not sure how to position ornaments on a garland, likke should I do it precisely based on size, or just randomly. I need suggestions or pics for decorating an outdoor wreath or garland using modern red ornaments, no floral..
keep it simple, try white first, then add your other colors (if needed). white and green are fresh and hip. add pieces that aren't neccessarily christmas, ya know, such as, photos, motorcycles, mirrors, letters, big fashion jewlry peices...get it!! i just go into different shops and look at everything to get inspiration. this works everytime. hey, if u every get to go to a garage/yard sale, look at everything and imagine painting or modifying for decorations.

if you have a headache, it is a sign of migraines. if no headache, i dont know.

What causes sweet, floral nasal odor-ruled out sinus, teeth-can IBS be a cause?
IBS? How could that happen? Maybe you should see a doctor. Meanwhile you can wear rose-colored glasses so the world will be rosy and smell rosy too.
Reply:A sweet fruity mouth oder is common with high blood sugar.
Reply:I seriously doubt that Irritable Bowel Syndrome would cause a sweet floral odor. Think!
Reply:Taste and smell usually run hand-in-hand. They are a combination of responses from olfactory receptors located in the nasal cavity.

There is no significant medical reference for sweet, floral nasal odor. The only odor that are commonly reported are Loss of taste, Perverted taste, and Fould taste.

Many gastrointestinal disorders do present a bad taste in the mouth, but usually, this is over-shadowed by far more significant symptoms. Of several thousands of taste buds, however, the tounge can only distinguish salt, sweet, sour, and bitter; in a respiratory infection one or both of these senses may be lost.

I bought my vases from target. They were priced between 2-4 dollars. They are pretty high quality too, really heavy.
Reply:Hi. Are you looking for a particular brand or style?

There are lots of places that sell vases...with Dollar Tree being my favorite! You can also special order large quantities from their website:

Well, you can't go wrong with Dollar Tree, unless you don't like those vases. If you want something a little more fancy, then check out Michael's or Hobby Lobby.

Good luck!

Also consider looking at craft stores that often have glass vases. If there's a style you like but they don't have enough, I'm sure they'd order more for you. Every store likes a sale, especially a big one.

If you have an ikea - that's also good too.

Try Target as well.

Reply:well depends how tall are u if you between 4ft, 9 in or 5ft, 6in then the skirt would be best with black little flats if your shorter with pumps but red and a white shirt that will make a person very pretty.
Reply:I haven't seen many floral prints on skirts. But if you were your peep toe pumps. It will make the outfit look more period. Like you meant to go retro. Which helps cause if you mix and match pieces from different era's. It comes off like you have a good fashion sense. Wear it with confidence. I'm sure you'll get compliments.

Wear whatever makes YOU feel good and do it with pride and confidence and everyone will love it. If you are self-conscience in it then others will pick up on that and not like it either so be all that in it!

Please Help! I need to make my own floral arrangements for my wedding. Any advice?
Try going to the LA flower district

http://www.laflowerdistrict.com/

if you have a friend with a business you can get a tax id number to gain the wholesale liscense. otherwise they open to the public after the hours of selling to florists.

Most flowers in bud form may take up to three days to open. Just make sure to arrange them maybe on the evening of the thursday prior to your wedding (if you are having a saturday wedding) be sure to cut each flower stalk freash when you bring it hoem and keep them in a cool space away from direct sunlight.

I'm getting married and made my own gorgeouis bouquet myself from a fantastic company in the UK, however, I do nto wish to purchase further from the company because they are a bit overpriced. Anyone know of any good companies online that they have used that have realistic flowers? And NOT the cheezy kind you find at Micheals/ Joann Crafts, etc.?

I got mine from silkspecialties.com. They made the bouquets but I think you can order flowers seperately too. They did a wonderful job. Everyone thought they were real! It was so nice too not have to worry about them dying in the heat! I have them on my mantel now. I love them.

For 8 bridesmaids, 16 boutinerres, 8 corsages, flower girl basket, and my bouquet it was $650. Not bad considering what it would have costed with real roses

I'll put a link to my flickr wedding group so you can look if you want.

Just so you know there is one picture of the girl who caught the bouquet. That is one that I ordered from a different company as a sample. It was horrible and looked so fake even though it looked great on the internet.

Congrats!
Reply:Check out wooden flowers. They look very realistic, more so than silk flowers. Check out www.woodyaflowers.com or www.bergodesigns.com, tell them Sarah from lovewithnoboundaries.com referred you! Best wishes!
