What are some budget or very cheap ways to do your home up? Thanks?

Not painting or anything like that as we rent our home. I'm in my 50's my partner he is in his early 40's. I'm not a big fan of floral bedspreads/doona. Or to much stripes. Maybe something homey, comfortable feel, happy, welcoming or even a cottage feel. It is 3 bedrooms, kithchen/dining, open loungeroom. Thank you for your time.

I move around a lot for work, so I've rented quite a bit and picked up lots of tips and ideas along the way.

First, don't assume that just because you can't paint you can't decorate your walls in color. I have put fabric--yes, fabric--on walls with plain old laundry starch and it is as beautiful as paint. Just pick a fabric you want, make sure you buy enough of it, soak the fabric in the starch, squeeze out the excess starch, apply it to the walls as you would wallpaper and voila, instant color.

Also, don't be afraid to hang lots of pictures on the walls. Hercules Hooks--which you can get at a hardware or chain store for about 10 bucks--really do work and they only make a small, pin-sized hole in the wall.

Plants always make a home more inviting also. Put some in every room of the house if you can, even if it's only one per room. Area rugs are also inexpensive now (with 5X8's running only 20 bucks or so at Wal-Mart) and make a room so much warmer.

The most important thing though, is to take what you love and incorporate it into your space. Have a great knickknack collection? Purchase inexpensive shelving and show them off. You may not be able to paint your kitchen cabinets, but you can display colorful plates and glassware on top of them and warm them up.

Hope this helped!
Reply:Curtains can be cheap - especially if you can sew. Pillows, slip covers, and area rugs are decent also. I saw once on a tv show someone taking multiple sheets to cover a chair - it looked nice.

Do you have bookcases? They can go in small spaces and can be found relatively cheap. Bookcases can look great when you mix books %26amp; decoration. Shelves can be cheap - might check your lease about that. Pictures are a great idea - some of those command hooks won't put holes in the wall but can hold pictures. If you don't have any, go someplace like hobby lobby and look at prints that suit your personality. Sometimes you can get them half price.

Even kitchen accessories can look good. If you like a color, you can buy things (like measuring cups) that are the same color %26amp; display them. I saw a picture of a lady's kitchen - she had all red accessories in a white rental. It looked great.

Shower curtains can liven up the bathroom. If you have doors, they sell clings for them. Colorful towels and rugs can help there too.
