How can I get "dryer sheet" smell out of old clothes?

I bought a nice pair of black jeans at a flea market, but they totally stink like dryer sheets (heavy, sweet, floral). I can't bleach them. What else can I do? (the smell is irritating my asthma).

How can I get "dryer sheet" smell out of old clothes?
wash them in warm water and put some clorox2 bleach in with the laundry detergent wash them two times and see if that kills that odor
Reply:Wash them again and hang them outside to dry..inside out so they wont fade.
Reply:wash again in tide
Reply:I'm not sure if this works cause I haven't tried it. I work in a hardware/housewares store. And one of my customers says that she works on a pig farm and she uses a scoop of Borax along with her detergent in every load of laundry. She told me that not only does it get the pig stench out but it also cancels out the smell of her detergent. This stuff might be kinda hard to find cause it's a pretty old brand. Try your local Ace store. If they don't carry it, they might be able to order it specially.
