Help with floral wallpaper....?

Moved into my new home a year ago. The livingroom/diningroom/kitchen have an open floor plan and all share the same floral wallpaper. It has a warm or peachy light beige background and medium-sized flowers. Flowers are delicate, colored slate blue, warm medium tan/brown, and light tan/brown. None of my stuff from my old home seems to go very well with the wallpaper and I'm having a heck of a time figuring out what will go well with it. I lean toward a warm modern style and lively colors. All I can think is to try to match the medium-sized floral theme.......???? Need help with colors as well as pattern! Thanks.

What about putting a waynes coating 3' high around the room... It will break up the pattern some... and will modernize it too.. waynes coat comes in a few different colors.. this way it would be a solid color on the bottom and floral on the top ...its fairly easy to put up, just cut , glue and nail... the cutting is the hard part.. need a sharp saw blade.
Reply:Most walpaper stores carrya line of paper that can be painted..If possible you could go with a subdue stripe to break it up............
Reply:well i wud juss tear down the paper completely and go buy so paint at home depot...most of their stores have a whole section dedicated to helping you repaint your home [they're also reaallly friendly and helpful]. also go to paint shops, or online, and there are tonnnnnns of walpaper designs to choose from! juss pick the ones u like and tear down the old paper! the easiest way to find a good paint/paper shop is to google it or log onto mapquest and find one near you.....also, the cooler colors are gonna give your home the more modern, dark feel, while peaches, beige colors are gonna give it the more, welcoming, friendly feel.....[you've probably had enuf of the warm color scheme tho] i wud go for sumthing inbetween like a light blue, or w/e goes with ur furniture!.......hope that helps.....
Reply:It's not too hard to take down. I removed paper in my entire house one wall at a time. I primed and painted them the same way.. You'll be so glad you did it. Just think, one wall at a time and you'll be re4ady for Thanksgiving!!!!
Reply:You should take it down. Florals aren't terribly popular and if your style is more modern you will constantly be battling with it. Paint instead and really open up your rooms. It's a herculean job but you will be so pleased with the results and have the look you want.
Reply:You're willing to change your personal style and color choices to accommodate the wall paper that's already in your house. Wow. You are very flexible. It will, no doubt, be more expensive to change your furniture than to change the walls. Consider slip covers and throw pillows. Check the basement/attic/closets. There's bound to be a roll of the wallpaper around somewhere. Take a piece around with you to the home deco stores and try to match the colors with accessories.
