Do u have any ideas for using non floral centerpieces? We are trying to save money.?

Depending on the time of year, think about decorating with fruit to match your colors. If it's fall think pumpkins and goards. Winter? Bowls of Christmas ornaments.

Good luck!

Do u have any ideas for using non floral centerpieces? We are trying to save money.?
There are a number of things you can do.

You can find all of these items at Wal-Mart.

1) Place small square (or round) mirror in center of table, place some plastic jewels on it with a small (lit) candle in the middle (the kind that people usually give as favors)

2) Place one large candle in the middle of the table (lit) with greenery around it. (Make sure you have something under the candle so it will not get too close to the greenery.

3) You can get a medium size bowl (clear glass) and put plastic clear jewels at the bottom. Place two gold fish in the glass bowls and place a small floral arrangement on top (the flowers can be fake)

All three of these ideas are very inexpensive and great. They don't look cheap either.

Hope this helps you.
Reply:I'd try to go with something connected to your theme - or the time of the year. I love the idea of using fruit or vegetables. I would suggest something that will add a little height (but not bulk or too wide) to the center of your table since everything else is low.

Balloons? Three collected at different heights with a weight to keep them in place?

Tall natural sticks with plenty of interest, sprayed with glue and then add glitter (gold or silver) - place them in a container with sand or something else (rice-marbles-glass beads?). Generally the reception place will add votive candles to your set-up for free so these could create a little sparkle to your table?
Reply:GO TO YOUR LOCAL DOLLAR STORES FOR EXCELLENT IDEAS, THE TIME IS NOW, THE WEDDING STUFF SELLS QUICKLY IN JUNE!

MIGHT I SUGGEST, GLITTER, CANDLES, BUBBLES, BELLS, CANDY DISHES, INSTAMATIC CAMERAS (1FOR EACH TABLE)SO THE PEOPLE AT THE TABLE CAN TAKE PICTURES OF ONE ANOTHER, OR THE HAPPY COUPLE ETC.. MEDIUM GLASS GLOBES WITH ONE LIVE BETA-FISH, THEY ARE LONERS! VERY POPULAR AND CHEAP, HAVE A PLATE AT EACH TABLE WITH THE WORD WINNER TAPED TO THE BOTTOM, FOR HOMES FOR THE FISH.WALMART HAS THESE! THEY COME WITH A SMALL GREEN PLANT.
Reply:Buy large clear 'fish bowl' globes at any craft store....get a large candle in the color/colors you like...surrond the candle in either a few silk flowers, or purchase the polished glass pebbles you get in bulk at any craft or dollar store-they come in colors..and place some inside the globe, then nestle the candle in the middle-the light from the candle when lit will reflect on the glass pebbles and make them sparkle.....you can arrange flowers around the globe, either real or silk for extra punch....

or get a set of plate chargers, ones that have a raised rim.....place a candle in the center and fill around the candle either flowers or glass pebbles....if you're having a beach theme seas shells are pretty..tie a gauzy ribbon around the candle....I use such an arrangement on a livingroom accent table (no ribbon)....the charger is glass with a 'pebbled' texture and the glass pebbles are multicolored...it only cost a couple a bucks (may 12.00 total) but looks expensive...I get so many complements and 'OH...where did you get THAT? I want one'...remarks..lol.....good luck.
Reply:I like the of disposable cameras on the tables so people can take pictures and keep a set for themselves and give you a set from your reception. Also, I was at a reception where the tables were lined with simple white votives with candles lit and it was very pretty. They then put a bottle of champagne at each end of the tables.
Reply:I have a wedding coming up, and I have a couple centerpiece Ideas that I am choosing from. One is large vases, or even a real fishbowl..with colorful guppies in it. Becuase my color is green, it fits. As for chocolate...I'm not so sure. But my other idea might work well with the chocolate colors. I want to get one of those dip trays, for veggies maybe. Or use whatever bowls you want. I'm going to use one in the center to hold baggies or other containers, and let my guests fill them up with candies that I put around it. (I hope you know what veggie tray thing I'm talking about) So this way, there's a variety of candy to choose from, and ti's something fun for them. Especially if there will be children there.
Reply:You may do 3 differ height wases with rose petals sunked in water and floating candles on top. Or colored crystals with water and floating candles. Or 3 different height candles grouped together and tied with a ribbon on a mirror base and rose petals.

Also if you want floral you may do a long tall vase filled up with colored crystals and water with 6 roses tied together with a ribbon and a big filler plant which is simple DIY.

Try fiftyflowers.com they have reaklly cheap flowers by bulk and have heard great reviews about them.
Reply:We used bowls with Beta fish and their plants, surrounded by votive candles. Everyone got to take home the votives - we had a dance contest to decide who got the Beta fish. We put stained glass in the bottom of the bowl in a color that matched the decor. It made the water in the fishbowl look so cool. The stained glass looks like flattened marbles - we got the glass where we bought the fish. It was inexpensive and very different.
Reply:You could create your own center pieces using fruit. You can do this for any time of the year. Lemons are ADORABLE for summer. Pears or apples for fall.

Shopping List:

Fruit

Vases

Skewers-

Florist Foam Cone

Moss

Put the foam in the vase (not glass vase! Make sure you cant see through it. ) Then Stick the fruit with the skewer and place in the cone. Arrange it so it makes a cone shape. Then fill in the holes with moss. Make them no more them 2 days ahead and keep refrigerated.
Reply:We are using fresh fruit. Our colors are green and brown. We are using limes, apples and pears. We are renting the glass vases and bowls. Check w/ your grocer to see if the will order in bulk for you. Much cheaper than flowers and still very pretty. Here are some ideas:

Good luck!!
Reply:I found some great flameless pillar candles at Canadian Tire last night. We're going to be putting them on small flat, clear glass candle plates, surrounding them with smooth river rocks of different sizes and sprinkling flower petals around them too. We're having a small reception in the backyard, so we only have 4 tables. It all cost me about $65.
Reply:you can also use live plants, like house plants. You can get them reasonably cheap and ppl can take them home. Be careful of the candles, although they look lovely- some ppl get very drunk at weddings and well you can see where that can go bad! If you have dollar stores in your area they have silk flower and baskets you could also use. Best of Luck!
Reply:Fish Bowls with little gold fish in them. Then all the kids can take them home as pets. You can find various bowls at yard sales, thrift stores or discount stores. Then fill each one with either a bata, or little gold fish. Just be sure to take good care and not harm any of the little fishy's.

Not really a great picture, but candlesticks were from http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=585%26amp;f=2...

Also in silver http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=585%26amp;f=4...

Picture frames were from various places all on sale! Michael's, Old Time Pottery, Marshall's, TJMaxx, WalMart, etc. And the pictures were pics of DH %26amp; I growing up, dating our pets %26amp; also we had pictures of our parents' %26amp; grandparents' weddings.

Here is another great site for cheap glassware http://www.save-on-crafts.com/vases.html
Reply:don't know where you live or the theme or anything, but you could check with your reception site on candles. You could get mirrors and put votives on there... with one bigger candle in the middle? You can get circle mirrors at Michaels. Or..for my wedding, we filled up a shorter wide vase thing with sand and sea shells then put a few gerbera daisies in there - it was cheap - we did it on our own

A simple green plant looks elegant, you can use ribbon in your colours around the stem or plant pot, they often work out a lot cheaper than large floral centrepieces.

I had a friend who used olive trees and they looked lovely. she gave them to her bridal party as gifts at the end of the night http://www.gardens4you.co.uk/index.php?/...
Reply:We're having some church candles grouped on a sort of circular mirror base. If you get 3 or 4 candles for each centrepiece, all different heights and widths, they will look nice. You can sprinkle confetti on the mirror base if you like. Cheap and pretty.
Reply:You can rent a big bowl from any party supply store for about $3-$4 and then get some floating candles in your wedding colors and some fake rose petals. It's a very inexpensive centerpiece but looks very classy. Here's a pic:

Reply:candles in glass holders with a ribbon tired around the outside in your colors.

floating candles in shallow bowls

Picture frames with pictures of the two of you

depending on your theme do something along those lines-like beach, use sand and shells
Reply:Candles are good but can get expensive with buying the bowl. I have seen people put a bowl of candy in the middle of the table or put a plate of cupcakes. Something food-ish always is enjoyable.
Reply:oversized martini glasses. Put glue around the top and put fake sugar in your wedding colors. Put colored water in them to match your wedding colors and float some candles in them.

What is your theme/colors?

That could help alot
Reply:Candles are pretty affordable.

I am using glass pumpkin jars (my wedding will be on Halloween) and decorating them.
Reply:I went to a wedding and they had tall hurricane sconces filled with water and colored stones...with a submersible light to make it glow.

It looked amazing with the lights turned off!
Reply:A big candle,or waterbowl with floating candles
