Do you think my tattoos should be similar in style?

I don't really know what you would call the different styles, but I have sort of an 'old school' looking skull on my ankle and a more 'new school' looking star design on my back. I want to get my next one on my thigh (opposite leg of the skull) of a floral desgin but since they are so different would it look funny to be able to see both at the same time? Hope this makes some sense, I'm not quite sure how to get out what i'm trying to say.

No, it shouldn't look bad..............if your tattooist is a good artist, he/she should be able to find something that will compliment you other tats.

They should all fit together nicely.
Reply:Maybe you should connect all the tattoos so your body will be one solid color....you would be the first for that and very unique

I love every single one of them.



The only thing I would be concerned about is maybe getting a sleeve done and that every part of the sleeve is done in the same style. But i'm getting off track.
Reply:i think you should get whatever you like on your body your pieces dont all have to fit in together its whateveryou like. i have a fairy on the back of my neck a japanese style 3/4 sleeve and a tribal tramp stamp (that i hate) non of my tattoos had anything to do with each other except that i liked them at the time i got them, and you should see my husband hunny nothing on him has anything to do with the other
Reply:GO FOR IT! If you love a particular piece of art, it shouldn't matter. Art does not have to have rhyme or reason - tattoos are art! What matters is that you have a good tat artist to back it up. Good luck with your decision.
Reply:Nah.....wouldn't even cross my mind to notice they were all different styles - I just like seeing people's different tattoos. There is too much space on your body to make everything the same style :) Have at it!
Reply:there is no reason for you to have the same style tattoos. that is the beauty of it, you can get whatever you like and it will be fine. the most important thing to do is to make sure you have a good tattoo artist.
Reply:if they are all done well.. I think it would look fine.. I've got a mix of styles.. (mostly celtic) but I've got color, black and grey, and a little bit of tribal .. (and one anime style design), but I've gotten compliments on a lot of my work and how it flows together.. (even one area that has three different designs by three different artists)



Choose good quality designs that you like and good artists.. and it should work out fine.

Reply:I think I know what you mean. Once done with my back, there is the possibility of doing work perhaps on a calf or lower leg for me. I'm not sure if I want to continue the theme or style from my back, but also don't know if it will clash or look strange if I don't.



This might be the case where the best to do is bring in the professional - ie, to see what the artist's comments are. It might be one of those things where it will work if a given approach is taken.

Reply:It looks better if you keep to the same style of tats,otherwise they look a mess,Ive tattooed people with Japanese designs then the following week they are wanting tribal,it spoils the whole effect.
Reply:I don't think it would look strange. Each tattoo should reflect who you are at the time you get it. So, different styles will just showcase your growth in life. I have American Indian symbols circling my right ankle, but I have a tropical flower tattoo on my left foot. Totally different, but the colors do coordinate.
