My roommate basically has really bad taste in color schemes for dorm rooms. She likes bright color schemes like pink and black or blue and purple. I want a light colored room to make the room look brighter and I want some vintage floral prints and a white frilly lacey curtain maybe with some pastel colors accenting the room, and possibly a little animal print. She doesn't like floral prints or frilly lace that much, but she does like the animal print idea.
Is there any way we can combine our two tastes into one style we'd both like?
How can I combine my roommate's decorating taste with my taste?
Tell them that if you don't shape up Im kicking you out!!!
Reply:Decide on something you both like!!
Reply:Taste is a matter of personal preference. Personally, I am not crazy about the pink and black or blue and purple idea, but on the other hand, lace curtains don't really do it for me, either.
What I would suggest, is going with a neutral color on the walls and use flashes of the bright pink and animal prints as an accent. When living with roommates, compromise is the key. You discuss this upfront with her, and try to come up with some even ground.
Might even be a good idea to buy a few design magazines of different genre...country, modern, etc. and have you both page through it to see what you like. Maybe you can come up with a combined style that way.
Hope this helps!!
PS - GO OUT AND BUY YOURSELF A COPY OF DOMINO MAGAZINE!! GREAT IDEAS AND YOU MIGHT FIND A STYLE YOU BOTH LIKE!!
